The benefits of bamboo fibre have once again been explained, meaning it might be the idea choice for maternity wear.

In an article for the Edmonton Journal, Marta Gold explains how the fibres are being used by many manufacturers as an eco-friendly alternative to other materials.

She also looks at how an increasing number of designers are coming round to bamboo fibres, broadening their ranges and offering a wide variety of clothes.

One designer told the news provider: " Bamboo is breathable, moisture-wicking and has a silkier, heavier feel than cotton jersey.

" Because of its comfort, it's great for casual wear, but its sheen and lovely 'drape' mean it can be worn to the office, or dressed up for evening."

The author also points out that clothes made with bamboo fibre are easy to take care of as they can be put in the wash as usual.

It has previously been noted that bamboo fibre is 100 per cent natural and sustainable and is ideal for humid weather.
